Maryam joined TU/e from October 2020 as an Assistant Professor in the Data and Artificial Intelligence cluster. Previously, she was a postdoctoral fellow at TU Dortmund, research assistant in ML group of Leuphana University of Luneburg, and research assistant in KMA group of TU Darmstadt.

She pursued her PhD studies in the department of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt, Germany, from 2013 to 2019. Her dissertaion summarizes her work on reinforcement learning and multi-armed bandits, with applications to sequential recommendation systems. During her PhD, she spent a six-month internship at Criteo company, France, on improving recommendation approaches for online advertisement. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from the University of Tehran, Iran, in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
